As of 1/06 all boaters operating a boat or watercraft in New Jersey waters are
required to complete a Boaters Safety Course and exam.

Who Needs a State Boating Safety Certificate?

-All persons operating any power vessel, including a personal watercraft.

How Do I obtain a State Boating Safety Certificate?

-Successfully complete a NJ approved boating safety course.

This 8 hour classroom course is required to obtain a New Jersey Safe Boating Certificate if you plan to operate a personal watercraft or a power vessel on the waters of the State of New Jersey. It covers all required subjects and is suitable for power boaters, sail boaters and jet skiers.
